Sorry Menagerie
The good vet called last evening to update us on Pepa's status. Her post surgery x-rays show her bones to now be aligned and she seems to be in less pain and in high spirits. Although she still refuses to eat, she is now quite vocal, probably complaining about her incarceration (she's being confined to a cage for her own good), moving about a good bit (by scrabbling with her front paws - although she tried a few times, she still can't stand up) and flexing her once immobile hind quarters.
When Gravitas dropped in to see her after work last evening, she gave him her usual warbly greeting and tried to manoeuvre closer to the cage's bars to nose him. Apparently she was quite a sight, half-shorn and still on a drip.
We can't wait to have her home again, to complete our sorry menagerie of cats with handicaps, missing teeth, torn ears and cats with chronic ailments. I'm sure Ginger'll be glad to have her back too. He's been missing her this past week.
We're so glad Pepa's going to live. We just hope we won't drop dead when we see the bill.
